Ezekiel 27-39 continues with Bible prophecy. Many times Bible prophecy is partially fulfilled near the time it was prophesied but still will have a complete fulfillment in the future. Ezekiel 27-39 can be difficult to understand but I encourage you to read it anyway.

What does “lamentation” mean in Ezekiel 27:2? Lamentation – “the passionate expression of grief or sorrow; weeping”.

What is “cassia, and calamus” in Ezekiel 27:19? These were aromatic, very expensive essential oils.

What Tyrus a good or bad place in Ezekiel 27? Tyrus does not seem to be a bad place but its ruler was very proud and God destroyed it because of this. In Ezekiel 28: 2 the Bible says, “The prince of Tyrus said, “I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas.” Therefore God took away his city.

Was the son of man in Ezekiel 28:2 saying that he was God? No, “son of man” is what God calls Ezekiel. The prince of Tyrus thought he was God.

In Ezekiel 29 He wanted His people to turn away from Pharaoh King of Egypt. Yes, Egypt is a type of the world. It is an idol worshipping nation that has never been a friend to Israel. In verse 3 of this chapter God calls Pharaoh “the great dragon”.

What does “Howl ye, Woe worth the day!” mean in Ezekiel 30:2 mean? It means “Woe to the day;” that is, the day of vengeance upon Egypt.

Where was Babylon back in this day? It was and is located in southern Iraq.

What does “No” mean at the end of Ezekiel 30:14-16? This was the name of a city. This city called “No” may have been the city of Diospolis, or Thebes. It was probably the capital of Upper Egypt. It is on the site where Alexandria is now. “Sin” is also a name of a city.

Did God set fire to Egypt and get rid of it? God’s judgments are often referred to as a fire. He set a fire in Egypt, bring strong judgments on it but did not destroy the country.

In Ezekiel 31:9 were they talking about the garden where Adam and Eve were? Yes, this is a reference to the Garden of Eden.

What does “vex” mean in Ezekiel 32:9? Vex – to cause distress to.

Why do they talk about the “uncircumcised”? This is a reference to the Gentile nations. All of the non Jews were considered as heathens. Calling them “uncircumcised” is a derogatory term for non Jews, those that were not chosen by God. The rite of circumcision was originally given by God as a sign between Him and His people.

The pit in Ezekiel 23:29 are than talking about hell? Not necessarily. This is a reference to the grave.

What is a watchman in Ezekiel 33:6? This is like a sentry. It is someone who continually watches for any type of danger.

In Ezekiel 33 if the people would turn away from sin and get right with God they will live. Yes, this is exactly what God wants them to do.

What prophesies are they talking about the shepherds in Ezekiel 34:2? The word “prophesy” here means the exact words that God will tell Ezekiel.

In Ezekiel 34:4 about feed not the flocks, they are not telling of God’s Word? Yes, you are exactly right. These false shepherds where not proclaiming God’s Word to His people.

Why was God against Mount Seir in Ezekiel 35:2-3? The people of Mount Seir were descendants of Esau and they were a continual and fierce enemy of the Jewish people.

What does “perpetual hatred” mean in Ezekiel 35:4? This mean continual hatred. They did not and would not love each other but continually hated each other.

What two nations and two countries are they talking about in Ezekiel 35:10? This is a reference to Israel and Judah.

What prophesy are they talking about in Ezekiel 36:3? Prophesy here is an action verb. It means that the prophet Ezekiel is supposed to say these words to the mountains.

I did not know that God gets jealous. Yes, when His people are to love and worship Him and they love and worship another, He gets rightfully jealous. It is like a wife who does not love her husband but instead showers attention and affection on another man. In such a case, the rightful husband is jealous. This is the way God feels when false gods gets the praise that He should have.

In Ezekiel 36 it seems that God forgive the people and made them clean again. This chapter is a prophecy of the restorations of the Jews after they returned from their captivity.

Who or what is Gog in Ezekiel 38:2? I don’t know exactly who he will be. He is the leader of Magog. He will lead the rebellion against God at the end of the millennial reign starting with an attack on Israel.

What is “unwalled villages” in Ezekiel 38:11? This means unprotected villages. Villages that are peaceful, open and easy to attack.

In the later part of Ezekiel 38 are they talking about the end of time? Yes, this is referring to the end of the millennial reign of Christ.

Did they have earthquakes back then? The Bible records some of the earthquakes that occurred.

What were the prophecies in Ezekiel 37:9? The bones became alive as an army of men. Specifically in the verse 9 breath came into them.

What is the sixth part in Ezekiel 39:2? God will allow only one sixth of Gog’s army will be left alive.

Is there a valley today named Hamongog and a town named Hamonah? Not that I know of. This is prophecy that will happen at the end of the millennial reign.
