Are you a wife looking for a special good night prayer for your husband? In an ideal world, couples pray together before going to bed. But when work schedules or travel make such spiritual bonding difficult, if not impossible, a loving wife may very well desire something like, “I want a good night prayer for my husband”.
She can then either send it electronically via text or e-mail or even write out a prayer or a romantic message on pretty paper to tuck in his suitcase or leave on his pillow.
While a loving wife should make praying for her husband and his needs a daily priority, these are personal prayers. But when you want to end the day with a loving message for your very best friend, your dear husband, in a short, sweet, and meaningful way, sending him or handwriting a prayer for him is a loving touch to let him know that you have brought him and his needs before God that day. Your good night prayers for him are directed to a God Who never slumbers or sleeps.
Examples of a Good Night Prayer for My Husband
Here are some examples of short, good-night prayers for husbands. These are merely examples. Use them to create your prayers that you can share with your husband as well as incorporate them into your own personal prayer life as you pray for the love of your life.
Bedtime Prayer for Peaceful Sleep
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for my amazing husband. Now as he goes to bed, I ask that You give him restful sleep this night. Please let his dreams tonight be sweet. Help him to sleep deeply and wake tomorrow to a new day.
Grant that he will be refreshed both mentally and physically. Please keep him from troubling thoughts, from the cares of the day. Let him have a sound mind, even as he is asleep.
Guide him to release all of his fears and anxieties to You since You will be awake all night. Thank You for giving him the precious gift of sleep. Remind him tonight that You love him even more than I do. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Spiritual Encouragement and Strength
Dear Lord, my husband is going through some trying times with his faith in You. I understand and I believe that You do as well. This night as he goes to sleep, I ask that You guide his thoughts into a deeper relationship with You.
Remind him to read Your Word and to speak to You. Please speak to his heart through Your Holy Spirit, Your people, and Your Word. Open his spiritual eyes to understand You better and help him to trust You more deeply.
Help him to rest tonight in Your love for him. I ask this for him in the name of the Lord Jesus, amen.
Prayer for Physical Safety
Dear God, please be close to my husband tonight. Keep him from all harm. You, are You alone are our ever-present help. Please protect him and keep him safe through the night after his long day.
I ask that Your angels surround him even as he sleeps, and I also pray that You keep him in Your loving hands. In his times of weakness, please be his strength. I ask this for my husband tonight in Christ’s name, amen.
Prayer for Healing
Almighty God, You have given my husband the gift of life. You have blessed him with a good job. Thank You for the hard work that he does both mentally and physically.
Now I ask as he sleeps that even tonight, You will give him good health and strength. As he sleeps, may You give him rest and healing to all of his body parts.
Please give my dearest love healing this night so that he will awake to a good and pain-free day tomorrow. I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, amen.
Prayer for a Good Future
Dear heavenly Father, You have brought us through another day. Help tomorrow to be even better than today. But with all of his dreams and desires, help my husband to look forward to the day he finally meets You face to face.
Help him to invest the time of this present life in serving You, so that when he does meet You it will be with great joy instead of sorrow over lost opportunities. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Good Night Prayer Messages
Sometimes instead of phrasing your good night wishes to your husband in prayer form, you may just want to send him a sweet or romantic good night message to end his day on an uplifting note. Here are some examples:
- Honey, I so look forward to you coming home to me. You are in my dreams. I want to wake up with you in my reality.
- Let me know when you are coming home. I will slather on the lipstick, so you can kiss it off! This is my sincere desire tonight.
- “Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.” – Song of Solomon 1:2 (KJV).
- This verse describes you! “His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet smelling myrrh.” – Song of Solomon 5:13 (KJV).
- While we are away, I am glad that we still share the same night sky.
- May you have pleasant dreams tonight. I know I will since I will be dreaming of you!
- As I look at the sky at night, I can’t help but thank God that He gave you to me. You are my guiding star.
- I read this verse: “By night on my bed I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not.” – Song of Solomon 3:1 (KJV) and thought of you.
Beautiful Good Night Prayers with Scripture
Sharing and praying scriptures with your husband is a powerful way to build his faith. As he goes to sleep, with Scripture being the last thing on his mind, God is faithful to His Word. Here are some Scripture-based prayers for you to pray for your husband.
Prayer with Scriptures for Sleep
Dear heavenly Father, please help my husband to be able to “turn off” his mind and get mental and physical rest tonight. You know that he can be a workaholic, many times he takes his work to bed with him. Help him to understand and to apply this verse that You placed in Psalm 127:2 “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” (KJV). Help him to have a good night’s sleep tonight and I thank You for the rest that You want us to have even in this busy world. I pray for this in Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer with Scripture for God’s Protection
Dear Father in heaven, help my husband to have the realization like Jacob of old. According to Genesis 28:16 “And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.” (KJV). Wherever my husband is tonight, You too are there with him. Help him truly go to bed with You on his mind and wake to a new day, knowing that You are with him. I ask this in Jesus’ name, amen.
Dear Heavenly Father, I am so thankful that tonight, and every night You are with my husband. Thank You for the promise in Psalm 139:8 “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.” (KJV). Knowing that You are with him gives me comfort. Thank You that You are with me as well. Amen.
This practice of praying Scripture with prayer is a powerful tool when praying for divine intervention for Your beloved husband. It is good to remind both ourselves and God of His promises as we pray to Him. Using Scripture to pray is a good way for peace of mind for us as well.
Private Good Night Prayer for My Husband
This prayer, because of its length, is a good example of a private prayer for a loving husband. There are different ways to pray, and different types of prayer are better for different situations. My friend Cindy Seki wrote this good night prayer for her husband and she graciously allowed me to adapt it and share it. While she included many Scripture verses in her prayer, I added the Scripture references that she referenced at the end of each paragraph.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that You are near to me who calls on You in truth. Today I cry out to You God Most High, to God, Who that performeth all things for me. Because I know Your name I will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken me. (Psalms 145:18, 57:2, 9:10)
I love You, O Lord, my strength. My rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. You are my refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust. I will call upon You and You will answer me; I know that You will be with me in trouble, I know that You will deliver me and honor me. (Psalm 18:1-2, 91:2, 91:15).
I will trust in You Lord with all my heart and I will not lean on my own understanding. I purpose in my heart that in all my ways I will acknowledge You so that You will direct my paths. Because I believe in You I know that I shall not be confounded. I wait for You Lord, my soul waits, and in Your word, I put my hope. (Proverbs 3:5-6, I Peter 2:6 and Psalm 130:5)
I know that our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. (2 Corinthians 4:17-18) (KJV).
I know that for me, who fears Your name, You have promised that the Sun of righteousness will rise with healing in His wings. And I will both go forth and grow up like calves released from their stall. (Malachi 4:2)
Lord, You sought for someone to make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before You for our marriage. Please find me the faithful one to do so. You also have told me to ask in Your name and I will receive, and my joy will be full. (Ezekiel 22:30 and John 16:24)
Dear gracious Lord, I know that You will have mercy on whom You will have mercy and You will have compassion on whom You have compassion, and that it does not depend on our goodness, because we are all sinners, but rather on God’s mercy. Please have mercy on my dear husband, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out his transgressions and remember his sins no more. (Romans9:15-16, Isaiah 43:25)
Wash my husband thoroughly from his iniquity and cleanse him from his sin. Create in him a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within him. He is an ambassador for Christ, as though God did beseech him. Since he is, I pray that he will be reconciled to God. (Psalm 51:1-2,10 and 2 Corinthians 5:20)
Lord, watch over my husband. Please teach my husband to do your will, for You are his God. I pray that Your good Spirit leads my beloved husband into the land of uprightness (Psalm. 143:10).
Dear God, in my husband’s work, I ask that he not concentrate on laying up for himself treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal. But rather help him to lay up for himself treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break in or steal. Help my husband to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, so that You will be pleased to add all these other things to him. (Matthew 6:19-20,33)
Dear God, You have richly blessed us with material goods. Compared to many, we are truly rich. All that we have and all that we enjoy is only because of You and Your blessings. Now help my husband so that he will neither be prideful nor he will put his trust in our savings. Rather help him to rest and trust entirely in Thee, the living true and mighty God because we know that it is You Who truly gives us richly all things to enjoy. I thank You for Your great and daily provision for us. (Proverbs 23:5, 1 Timothy 6:17)
Help my husband to do good, to be rich in good works. Help Him to give freely when needed and to communicate well with others. As he serves You in doing good for others, he will be laying up in store for himself a good foundation, against the time to come, eternal rewards in heaven. (1 Timothy 6:18-19)
Please remind my husband as he labors to meet our needs and to get financial gain, that he would not love money. Remind him of 1 Timothy 6:10 which says, “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”(KJV) I want him, and I know that You do too, to be the man of God who flees these things and instead follows after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness like God instructs in 1 Timothy 6:11.
I ask that my husband not love the world, or the things that are in the world. Because we both know that those who love the world do not have the love of the Father in them. Also, we know that all that is in the world, the lusts of the flesh, of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of Thee but of the world. (1 John 2:16)
Please help my beloved husband to demonstrate daily the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Against such attributes, there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
My husband is both sober and vigilant. He knows that his adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. My husband knows also that this same evil entity resists those who are steadfast in their faith. Therefore he, through the grace of God desires to be steadfast in the faith of Jesus Christ. May You God, the God of all grace, Who called my husband unto Your eternal glory by Christ Jesus, make him perfect, and establish and strengthen and settle him (1 Peter 5:10)
My precious husband strives daily to put away from him all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, and malice. He is kind to everyone, He is tenderhearted, and he forgives others as he knows that God, for Christ’s sake has forgiven him. (Ephesians 4:31-32).
My husband wants to serve his God. Daily he presents his body to God as a living sacrifice. My husband knows that this is only his reasonable service to the One Who died for him. As a living sacrifice, my husband strives so that he will not be conformed to this present world. Rather, He allows God to transform him by renewing his mind and therefore he can prove and do the good acceptable, and perfect will of God for him. (Romans 12:1-2)
Dear Father, I ask that my husband love me, his wife, as Jesus Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it. Help my husband to love me like he loves his own body. Remind him that he who loves his wife loves himself. I know that no man hates his own flesh, but just as he takes care of his body, and nourishes and cherishes himself, so also help him to love me in the same way. (Ephesians 5:29)
My husband’s love for me is long suffering and kind. He does not envy me or is jealous of me; does not think evil of me; and is not provoked easily. My husband does not rejoice in iniquity, but rather he rejoices in the truth. My husband’s love for me bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
Dear God, may my husband live in harmony with all others. Please make him desire peace, help him not to be proud, but rather willing to associate with those of lower position. Keep him from being conceited. Let my loving husband do nothing because of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but humbly consider others better than himself. (Romans 12:16, Philippians 2:3)
Please teach my husband that pride will bring him low, but honor will uplift him. Help him to be humble. Help my husband to know the fear of the Lord and to hate evil, pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the froward mouth. (Proverbs 29:23, 8:13)
Make my husband to be subject to those in authority, to be clothed with humility. Teach him that You resist the proud, but You do give grave to the humble. Help my husband to humble himself under Your mighty hand so that You and You also will exalt him in due time. Help my husband to cast all of his cares on You, because You care for him (1 Peter5:5-7)
Dear Father, I have the confidence to approach You on behalf of my husband. I know that if I ask anything according to Your will, You do hear me and if You hear me, then You will give me what I ask of Thee. (1 John 5:14-15)
I have claimed Your promises for my husband, and I thank You for the result. Now help me to wait patiently to see how You will answer my prayers. I ask, all this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
